NYC Coffee Cup Canvas Tote-Limited Run Block Print

★ ABOUT THE ITEM:

•One of a kind hand block printed recycled cotton tote bag
•Original design inspired by the classic NYC Greek takeout coffee cups
•Tote is approx 15”x16” with a 27” handle
•Printed using blue oil ink
•The tote is made in Tamil Nandu, India, the ink is made in the US and the tote is block printed by me in Brooklyn, New York

★THE PROCESS:

Creating this tote involved several steps. First, I sketched out this design in my sketchbook, then I transferred the image to my iPad onto the app Procreate. From there, I finalized the design and printed it out in order to transfer the image to a linoleum block. Next using carving tools I carved the design onto the block, leaving the raised parts that would become the stamp. After the carving is complete, I transfer the blue ink onto the block stamp with a roller and place the block onto the canvas tote. I rub the block with a wooden tool to create the final piece. In the second photo you can see the linoleum block with a freshly stamped tote.

Each tote is unique and varies a bit from each other.
